I was born and raised in Texas, where my father pastored churches in east Texas and finally in Port Arthur, Texas. It was in Port Arthur that I met and fell in love with my future wife, Gail Graham. We both graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and attended Baylor University, getting married our senior year. I was in business for ten years, and during that time, Gail gave birth to our four daughters, Brenda, Amanda, Julia and Melissa. We all attended the First Baptist Church of Saginaw, Texas, where I taught Sunday School, became a deacon, and eventually the associate pastor. After our children were born, I attended Southwestern Theological Seminary, and shortly after my graduation in May, 1992, the members of New Hope Baptist Church extended their call for me to become their pastor. Gail and I have had the privilege of watching generations grow up in this wonderful family church. It is our prayer that you find a church you can call home- a place of acceptance and growth. For us and many families, New Hope is just that church. Come see us!
Jamie Hayes was raised in Mississippii, but has found his home in Texas along with his wife, Holly, and two daughters, Taylor and Brelyn. Jamie has a transparent love and passion for Jesus which drives his leadership in worship. We have blended worship from the old hymns to the latest contemporary worship songs. As a trained conductor, Jamie leads the choir and directs the praise band for a meaningful worship expression and experience. If you have musical talent, Jamie is looking for you!
The Bible commends us to “stir up the gift of God which is in you”. If you sing, come and join our great choir. If you play an instrument, we have many opportunities for service. If you sing solos or duets, Jamie wants to know for future worship opportunities.
You will find the music ministry filled with opportunity, fun, and authentic expression of our passion for our great God. Come and join us!
Jonathan and Lauren are beyond excited about all that God is doing in ‘Ignite’ youth ministry at NHBC.
Jonathan grew up in Mesquite, Texas; Lauren grew up in Hot Springs, Arkansas. They enjoy spending time outdoors, especially at the lake and at the Texas Rangers ballpark.
They have a vision and desire to walk alongside these students, to equip and challenge them in their own relationship with the Lord, and to be supportive of them in their gifts and talents as they learn to use them to bring glory to God.
