Who We Are
Real People
At New Hope Baptist Church, you’ll find sincere, down-to-earth people—families serving a real and awesome God. We’re not about politics or appearances. We’re real people guided by God’s Word, striving to live out His truth with humility and grace. Our fellowship is transparent, grounded, and welcoming. As the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 3:18, “Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise.”
Whether you’re visiting for the first time or looking for a church family, we hope you’ll feel at home.
Real Answers
We believe that the answers to life’s biggest questions are found in the One who created life—God. Through the indwelling Holy Spirit and the living Word, we get to know God and grow in faith. Just as physical food sustains the body, God’s Word nourishes the soul.
At New Hope, you can expect:
- Authentic Teaching – We believe in rightly dividing the Word of Truth, providing real answers for real life.
- Biblical Preaching – God’s Word, led by His Spirit, is our guide in everyday life.
- Meaningful Worship – From timeless hymns to contemporary praise, all worship is for His glory.
Real Hope
Our church name, New Hope, was inspired by the early settlers in our community who sought to share God’s hope with their generation. That same hope lives on today through the presence of Christ. Each new day is an opportunity to experience the joy and peace that come from a relationship with Him.
God draws to Himself the brokenhearted, the poor in spirit, and the weary—and gives them real hope through His Son. In our fellowship, you’ll find:
- Sinners saved by grace
- A community centered on the Word
- A church rooted in the constant presence of God
We pray that God would lead you and your family to a church home where you are loved and encouraged. If that place is New Hope, our doors are open.

Our Story: Rooted in Faith Since 1875
New Hope Baptist Church in Boyd, Texas, has been a cornerstone of this community since 1875. What began as a small gathering of faithful believers has grown into a welcoming family church with deep roots in Wise County and the surrounding areas of Springtown and Azle.
In 1981, the Texas Historical Commission recognized our legacy with an official historical marker. And in March 2025, a new historical marker was dedicated, commemorating nearly 150 years of ministry, service, and unwavering hope in Christ.
Over the years, New Hope has remained a spiritual home for generations. From our connection with the nearby New Hope Cemetery — where more than 800 individuals are laid to rest — to our active food pantry and annual homecoming gatherings each May, this church continues to be a beacon of love, support, and real hope for our neighbors.
We are honored to carry forward this legacy and welcome new families looking for a Bible-based church where they can grow, serve, and belong.

What should I wear?
New Hope welcomes a range of attire. On Sunday mornings, many wear dresses, slacks, or suits, while others opt for semi-casual outfits. Sunday and Wednesday evenings are generally more relaxed, with comfortable, casual clothing.
Where do my children go?
Our children’s education building is located directly behind the sanctuary. Under the leadership of our Children’s Minister, Laura Beth Plumlee, and Nursery Coordinator, Jennifer Fry, your children will be nurtured in a loving, safe environment while learning about God’s Word. We believe Christian education begins early—both through teaching and example.
